How can I make food and produce photography more appealing?

We all know that unless the food photography on our packaging looks appetising, then there is little chance our product will be a first choice on the market shelf.

Quality Food photography in advertising and point of sale displays is a must to drive new and even existing customers to make a purchase.

There are several photography tricks that will enable you to get great results from your produce shots.

1. Under cook the food
   Under cooking fresh food will allow produce to retain it's vibrant colour. In some cases (especially with greens) dousing it in icey water straight after cooking will enhance the colouring.
2. Accessories
   Make sure that you use accesories such as table clothes and cutlery to enhance the mood of your photograph. If the the accesories you are using do not fit the theme of your shot, they will detrack from it.
3. Retouch imprefections
   Once quality images have been selected, it is important to remove all imprefections that don't improve the photograph. Odd shapes may add character to vegetables for instance, but a rotten spot on the skin of an apple will not.
